How do neon green, test tubes, and jellyfish go together…join us for a fun and educational microscope class to find out! Explore how compounds like insulin and antibodies are made via a jellyfish derived green florescent protein – participants will be able to take home a little tube of GFP.
Come to Bioengineering Day at Bolivar Harpers Ferry Public Library and participate in a series of hands-on experiments that will demonstrate how lifesaving therapeutics are manufactured. Participants will make a vial of green fluorescent protein that they can take home to show family and friends. Participants can also bring or prepare on-site their own samples to analyze with microscopes that will be available for everyone to use. The activities will be engaging for all ages, although children under the age of 10 should be accompanied by a parent.
